Tereñes is a village of Ribadesella who is typical of Asturies. This village is in the north of Spain, between the sea and the mountains.

If you need to have a rest or to eat good food, then you could visit this very especial environment; to go for a walk on the beach and in the cliffs of Tereñes, or to do trekking. There are a lot of things to do there. And you can eat in restaurants where you will eat very good and not expensive.

Tereñes cliffs: The walk along the beach has a landscape very beautiful, but if you would like to go down to the shore, under their cliffs, then you will find cave paintings of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Moreover, you could lay down and listen to the sea and the waves while you get brown on the black and big stones, or you can swim in the sea too.

If you like the beach, then it will be good to go to “Vega” beach or “Santa Marina” beach. These beachs have got thin and white sand, and they are very long. There you could go for a walk on the sand and under the sweet sun of the North of Spain.

The “Cuevona” cave: It’s a cave you have to go through to arrive to the village of “Cuevas”. The route you can do it on foot or by car. It’s very curious because you will think you are in a mine. The cave has got 500 meters long and 4 curves and, of course, you cannot see the exit. In addition, there are many stones illuminated, they go out of the high, to the roof of the cave. It’s very beautiful.

“Los Bufones de Lanmes de Pria”: You could visit a very especial environment too. It is called “Los Bufones” and it is in “Garaña” beach. There is a landscape of cliffs with some pits (hole) where the water of the sea goes out with strong and it raises until 20 meters, when the tide comes in. These sources are called “Sifones” and they do a lot of noise.

“Gulpiyuri beach”:  It’s a beach that is under a cultivated land and you don’t see when the tide is low. We can see it only when the tide is high: the sea goes out toward the stones and it forms the waves. To arrive to this beach it is necessary go through “San Antolin” beach.

Besides, you could visit “The Europe Peaks , “the natural park of Covadonga”, or “the Fitu viewpoint” that it’s at “Sueve mountain”. If you visit it, you will like the Asturies mountains : it’s beautiful, high, green and it’s by the sea.

By other part, if you need to have a rest or to eat well, then your entertainment could be to do trekking (you can ride a horse too). There are a lot of routes. At Ribadesella it exists the possibility of doing different sports activities: in the mountains, at the sea, in the sea, or in the air. You can know the typical food of Asturies too: “fabada” (green bean), apple cake, roast beef, rice with milk. There are good fish and seafood.

The typical drink is the cider. In Tereñes, there are 3 restaurants, but we think “La Portiella” it’s the best because it’s not expensive and you can see the cliffs, the mountains and the sea, all together. It’s pretty, especially at night, or at sunset.

During your stay, it will be the most important festivals: “the Sella descent”, this celebration takes place on the first Saturday of August, and the “Snow Virgin” who is in Tereñes. This day we go to the countryside for celebrating it and there are music, cidre and fish. People dance on the green grass in the middle of the mountain and the sea.

Finally, if you would like to use your free time in cultural activities, then you can visit the prehistoric cave: “Tito Bustillo”. This cave is similar to the “Altamira Cave” and “Lauxcaux”. In addition, the dinosaurs museum that is at Colunga, a village close to Ribadesella. You can go to “Santa Maria del Naranjo” too, in Oviedo or to “Valdedios”, in Villaviciosa (or you can see other Romanesque monuments).
